Generally, I agree but when a coin is seriously misrepresented, I have no problem with someone warning other forum members.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

I agree. But hopefully, that’s accompanied by making the auction house aware of it, too.
It would also help if the OP explained the problem rather than create a title and question that begs for criticism. I, for one, didn't even examine the listing because i did not wish to offer an opinion which might interfere with a live auction.

Don't the auction houses have staff that verify the flip to the coin? So it matches up Kind of like a proof reader for a newspaper.
Maybe the auction house assumed that the slabbing service has a finalizer that verifies that the slab label is correct for the coin in their slab.

Of course I did but it sat there over two days with more bidders not noticing the error then within 10 minutes of this thread I apparently got GC attention and it was removed.

Yes, but there are always mistakes that pass through.

I have notified both GC and HA on multiple occasions of misattributed Draped Bust LCs. Action was taken quickly in every instance. I didn’t think to post here…

We really should not be discussing a live auction.

Did you notify GC of the error? That would seem to be the proper thing to do rather than discuss it here (even if GC is monitoring the boards).

Greysheet difference on nm vs. motto versions of 1908-D $10 in 62 are significant, but not huge; $4K vs $3200.

You need more than a proof reader to verify the variety and/or grade of a coin.
