Just curious the forum consensus for the most consistent year and MM for strike and quality.
Looking to build a grading set of sorts in a few series.
Thanks in advance

IMO, for a grading set, go with 1880-S. For Peace dollars, whatever the cheapest year is.
For strike quality, you can find exceptional specimens in pretty much every year. I've seen incredible 1884-CCs and a fully struck 1921 Peace is a beauty of a coin.
Coin Photographer.
I would go with a 1926-d peace dollar. It takes a few pieces to find, but many are well struck and have great luster. If you're in the market for a nice 21 peace, dont settle with a weak strike. Like @FlyingAl said, they are beautiful fully struck.
For Morgans, 79-S, 80-S, and 81-S all tend to come very well struck. For Peace, I’d say 26 P or D, but 34 and 35 P or D also seem to come nice, they just cost a little more.
After reading the David Bowers Morgan book I decided the first Morgan I would ever buy was 1898-O. There as so many great examples. You certainly won't go wrong with any of the others that have been mentioned as well. 1880-S holds a special place in my collecting heart as well. Enjoy!
For Morgans, in my experience, 1881-S has the most exceptional quality, with 1880-S a close second.
81-S for the Morgan no doubt. RGDS!

the 202x issues?
81-S is a lock in my opinion.
Thank you for the responses.
Mostly I seek a particular VAM or two.
Grade and strike were secondary.
