2024 - The year I finally completed my early VF/XF Walker set (1916-33)

For me, this was a great accomplishment for the year.

The 1917-S obverse mintmark was the last addition to this registry set. It took years to complete this set. IMHO, the 5 toughest dates to find were these: 1916-S, 1917-S (obverse and reverse mintmarks), 1919-S and 1920-D. I tried for original looking coins and avoided the graded blast white VF's and XF's I saw out there. Merry Christmas to all out there!

I did a Fine set that drifted to VF and to Ef or the later years. That was hard enough. Tremendous accomplishment with a good look

    Huge congratulations!

I certainly know what’s involved in chasing these early Walker date and mintmark combos. They are sooo challenging.

You have put together a great set and should be very proud.

    It is a monumental accomplishment.

Congrats on completing a challenging project!
Looks like a nice mix of Walkers and I like that you avoided the unnatural blast white examples.

Just curious… How long did it take you? When did you begin?

Can you post larger pics of the toughest ones to get?

Nevermind, looked in your registry set. Much better pics than your collage would suggest.

I started this set sometime around 2010, think my first coin was a VF-30 1916 which got me started. I would find certain dates here and there, but don't think I ever found more than one at any given time.

    Very nice!

I am casually working on a F+ raw set, but it’s hard to find the key dates raw and un-molested so I may have to complete the set with certified pieces.
