I purchased these two yesterday at my local coin shop on LI.
Feel free to GTG and offer any opinions.
Bonus: guess which one is CAC'd.
Happy holidays!
Coin #1: 1883-S
Coin #2: 1886
**** Grades revealed below ****
No one got the exact grade on the 1886 but many were spot on with the 1883-S!
The 86 is greasy in luster while the 83-S is a luster bomb.
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

Our host grades the 83-S a little tougher assigning 62 a lot. I give that a 63 but wouldn’t be surprised if they gave it a 62.
The 86 should be a 66

My first impression without seeing what the others who are no doubt more accurate saw, MS64 and MS66. My reasoning for that without referring to possible unique date and mm characteristics, is that the 83-s looks lustrous, original without problems and scattered marks, while the 86 seems typical of gem plus coins.
1883-S: MS63 CAC
1886: MS65+

Thanks for all the (very close) guesses. See below or the first post for the answers.
Many spot-on 83-S guesses at MS62. It's a luster bomb and typically bag marked for this date.
No one got MS67 CAC for the 1886, but it's greasy luster is deceptive, and common for this high mintage date.

Thank you for this post. My 86s in rattler look very similar to yours. Time for gold cac review.
Good luck on the CAC review @johnny010 ... Do you mind posting a picture of your 86-S for us here?

To clarify
I have an 83-S in 61 and 62 CAC and 86-P in 65 CAC. I don’t have an 86-S in CAC yet (but I’m looking diligently)
Very nice, thanks for sharing. I was too strict on that 86, it does look very clean.
