What date/MM are considered the most consistent and best strike in this series?
Mostly looking for a MS example in 64 or better...
Maybe AU for my everyman box of 20

I collect the early Walkers. The 1921, even though it’s a tough date, has a reputation for a strong strike with good detail. Here’s mine (sorry, it’s “only” a 63):
On the obv, there’s a full head, fully formed branch hand thumb, complete stem split & good skirt lines. The rev shows a very detailed trailing leg & full breast feathers.

If you’re looking for the least expensive, I’d probably shop the P mint dates from the early 1940’s.
The 36P is another choice, if you want something slightly tougher. The 34S is also usually well struck, but pricier.
If you want an early date showing the original design, the 16P and D are good choices.
Early-1916, 1916-d, 1917, 1920 and 1933-S
Mid-1934, 1936,1940
Late-1941, 1942, 1943

Since I have 1 with a strong strike, figure that date/MM must be pretty consistent. 39P

in the 30s all but 1935 are easy to find hammered (philly dates) and 40-43. For especially hammered strikes 1934, 36, 39, 40.
For hammered and exceptional quality a 46-D frequently come in superb gem due to being hoarded in roll quantities.
1936 hands down. Better than the 1940s dates.
