Not sure how anyone would think this genuine, not even the seller...

Not even a good knockoff of a genuine gallery mint.

PCGS cert has no image but a past auction listing.

Genuine example from the Stack's auction.

Best, Jack.

Why do you think this is a Gallery Mint knock off and not simply a US Mint knock off? It doesn't look anything like a GMM piece to me.

Previously you indicated some counterfeits don't look like Dan's pieces, so what about Ron's pieces? Let's not drag GMM and Ron into this if they are not involved.

alot of meat on that coin for AG details :'(

Agree. It would have been more believable if he had used a fake CACG slab, ;)

WOW!!! Well, the Chinese HAVE knocked off Ron's pieces and we have seen several in the marketplace; to my eyes this one is closer to one of his than a US mint product. And I didn't mention Dan, you did. Does it look like one of his ?

Interesting that you really think this is related to Ron's product. I wouldn't have really expected this, but okay.

And I didn't mention Dan, you did. Does it look like one of his ?

I was referring to this thread of yours, where Dan is mentioned in the title. So one title with Dan and another with GMM.

Dan Car's latest- has he ever made an "1815" large cent

I also just noticed you changed the title for this thread. Here's the original for reference:

Fun with Fakes- a CN 1793 half cent Gallery Mint knockoff in a fake PCGS slab.

    Current title:

I changed the title due to your odd comment. I talked directly with Ron about this one and agree it is not his but he always gets a chuckle when he sees pieces like this. Sorry it got you in a bunch. Saying something is a bad knockoff does not mean it is "related"- has nothing to do with Ron and everything to do with the counterfeiters.

I have no clue what this one has to do with the 1815 post; I have an electro and was looking for the possible inspiration for it and thought it would be cool if Dan had made one of his fantasy pieces with that fictitious date. Would love to find one to add to my collection.

Hope you have a better day!

No worries. I just thought it interesting you thought it was a knock off of Ron's and not the US Mint's.

Good luck picking up one of Dan's 1815 Large Cents. Please post when you get one! :):+1:

Found a similar raw one from back in 2016, but it looks a little more realistic:
