1936 Rhode Island bronze plaque

I just found this item at a local antique store. I don't recall seeing one before. It is a large bronze plaque, 7.5 inches in diameter. The casting is a bit rough, but the sculptural aspects are pretty well done. Integral in the casting is a loop on the back for hanging. It has obvious similarities to the issued 1936 Rhode Island commemorative half dollar (obverse).
To the left of the Native's legs is a small incuse copyright symbol with "DC" below that.
In some respects this is superior to the accepted design.
I could not find any of the rejected designs on the internet.
I wonder if this design is one of them ?

I like it

I think it's a fantastic find!

Thanks for the links. Those are definitely the same as mine (without the "WELCOME" attachment at the bottom).
I am unable to check realized prices, however. Stacks-Bowers won't let me log into my account, or reset my password, or sign up with a new account using my email (it says an account with my email already exists, but I can't log in, and the password reset request does nothing).
The other two (Invaluable and Mutualart) I do not have an account for (don't want to pay for that).

The SB lot sold for $141 including BP.

$141 seems like a fire sale price

Some 1930s Daniel Carr designed it!

Thanks. I took a small gamble and paid $100 at the antique store, while not knowing any actual value.
It appears to be worth a modest amount more than that. So not a big score, but not a mistake either.
However, the $141 Stacks sale was from 2014. It might auction for a bit more 10 years later now.

Yes, I noticed that
Apparently, the DC on the plaque is for "Duane Champlain".
But here is the double-doppelganger:
I designed the 2001 Rhode Island state quarter.

Great link! It mentions Duane Champlain.
Interesting question. Now that we know this is by Duane Champlain, we have more avenues to explore.
Duane did competitions and sculptures for the Federal Government via the USPS so there may be a possibility he worked on a US Mint design.
