My Skinny Buffalo herd and a few other contemporary Buffalo counterfeits
These coins seemed to draw a bit of interest here recently so I thought I would do a group photo of mine. Turned out I only had 7, not 8. Thanks to a post by Oakstar, I took a closer look at all of them and discovered I had 2 different varieties. The top 2 lack the die crack across the feather but the reverses have a strong crack from the Buffalo thru the T of United to the rim. The other 5 have the feather crack and no reverse die crack. The one in the center has wear on the buffalo but can be identified by the obverses diagnostics, (no designer initial, straight nose on the Indian).
The second set of photos are some other contemporary counterfeits, plucked off ebay or discovered in bulk searches, including the first one which has many errors, No F, 2 feathers and a seriously rotated reverse.

I too find these intriguing.

Nice job on the enlargements. Realized that there is also a die crack on the right side of FIVE CENTS on the top two skinny buffs. It almost seems to line up wth the one on the top.
Nice collection.
