    This was part of a recent submission. I posted it here mainly because the Panamanian smaller denominations are often overlooked. The 1934 is one within a short series that begs the question as to the surviving MS population.

  • werent all the earlier 1/10 1/25 and 1/12 struck on our standard 90% silver planchets by the us mint ?

    I think that the 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 Balboa coins and the one Balboa were struck in Philadelphia. However, the weights are slightly less than the US counterparts.

    Yes, generally thought to be of double standard the US coins (ie - the 50 cent. the weight of the US dollar coin) - NOT the case as you pointed out: 25 gms. versus 26.73 gms. for the dollar and both in US 0.900 silver.....
