What do I do here. Recent REA purchase. Resolved in like an hr

Just got back my 1 card I won from REAs last auction. It was a PSA 4 1952 Gray Back Billy Martin. Card is 100% altered after seeing it in hand. It has a large "R' erased on his left arm. REA is closed as I just tried calling them. Go through them or PSA. This is my first time with an issue like this. Here is a pic
2000.00 card

I can now see it in there pic but when bidding I didnt. Descriptions also doesnt mention it. If they had a chance it would have been in these last sentences " The offered card features bright colors, a crisp image, honest corner wear, and a bit of excess ink on the front. A scarce gray-back"

I want the card but the card is a Auth at best now
Case seems ok and not altered.

wouldn't it be something if they tell you their comment about "excess ink" on the front was meant to be for the erased R...

I would contact REA - bet they will take the card back and give a refund.

Just curious if you could notice that in the auction photo (if it's still posted anywhere) or there was an attempt to conceal it in the scanned image.

No once I noticed I then went back and was like dang yep there it is.

It’s very faint but I noticed about after 4 seconds of holding it. Half a bull ride about. I was bidding 1 hr bf close and rushing through all the listings.

Tough to have to give up a card that you have been wanting and that seemingly filled a collecting void. Good luck in any future search.

REA is a reputable auction house; not surprised they are refunding your money.

Early grade…accounts for it. But…it does not mean every early graded card does not deserve the assigned grade.

It's important to remember that PSA is an opinionated service. The grade of the card in the slab is not a guarantee. That would be something that was not noticed by the initial grader and remained undetected by at least 2 other graders taking a look at it.

  • It may have escaped as a request for no qualifiers and could or would have been a PSA 6(MK).

    Enjoy the go.

Ehh, 6 is a stretch it has 4 rounded corners. Card looks like a 4 and very close MC worst centering. I think it was just a big miss all around.
Super rare card no mater but Auth grade/damage does hurt the value.
