Searching a while. Buy it when it comes up. Well, I did. Big Buffalo Cud

VetterVetter Posts: 860 ✭✭✭✭✭

I’ve been looking for this error for my Buffalo Nickel variety/error collection for some time now. I’ve seen a couple in lower grade but passed them up looking for a higher grade. This one came up on eBay and I made an offer that the seller accepted.
Yes its cleaned but that really doesn’t bother me as I like the grade. I might have paid to much but who knows when the next one in a higher grade will come available.
This will fit nicely in my growing collection.

Nicest one I've seen and I haven't seen very many of these! Congratulations!

You can use a little nic-a-date to see if there's a mintmark.

JUST KIDDING! That's a cool coin and I agree with your thinking - get the tuffies when you can. And unless you really paid heavily, someone will probably give you at least what you got in it if/when you do upgrade.

    Congrats!

Cleaning aside, that’s a very high grade specimen for that Cud type.

    Congradulations!
That's is pretty darn cool. I like that kind of error a lot. That's a rather large cud relative to the coin.

I agree with Fred. I've been looking for cuds for a few decades now, and I've seen three including this one. Fortunately, I was able to purchase a raw Fine-12 about 15 years ago. Still have it.

Any chance you post a picture of yours? I would love to see a comparison.

That is cool and something I will add on my list of stuff to look for when I go through some no dates.

Amazing how much detail there is opposite the cud. The top of the head is mostly there with just some weakening of the rim. Very cool.
