I just finished an excellent history of silver covering the past 200+ years:
The Story of Silver
How the White Metal Shaped America and the Modern World,
written by, believe it or not, a fellow named William L. Silber
From Alexander Hamilton to FDR, and including the Hunt Brothers and Warren Buffett, this is a great modern history AND a fun read.
For me, Silber’s most surprising contention is that FDR’s raising the price of silver in the 1930s weakened China’s economy, which helped facilitate Japan’s rise to power ahead of WWII.
First published in 2019. You can probably snag a cheap copy on Ebay.
