Pmd or error? Mercury dime

Pmd or an error?
Grease filled die? Interesting how it was exactly over the date.
My gut says pmd but I cannot figure out why someone would try and remove the date.

Any ideas?

I'd say post mint damage, based on the first picture showing the whole obverse. The reason why? Who knows for sure, but most likely to deceive others in thinking it may be a valuable error or variety.

Looks like the date has been removed intentionally.
A grease filled die would usually show the outline of the numbers.

PMD and some environmental damage to boot. Was it a parking lot find?.It has a silver melt value around $2 maybe

Interesting piece. Definitely damage. The tool that was used to remove the date left parallel marks on the bottom of the bust.

    Looks like a 1924 or 25.

Thank you for the comments and confirmation of pmd.
I found it in a bunch of mercury dimes.
