This dime led an interesting life
Recently purchased a collection that was put together in the 1970s-90s. Nothing too amazing but had a pile of love tokens. Going through them today and this 1843 dime was deemed interesting enough to go in my keep it pile.
What i find interesting is not the likely misplaced thought that could be from PT Barnum. But instead the fact that was pulled from circulation in 1934 in wisconsin. The dime is really worn. Likely was already worn in 1889 when engraved. But how much more wear happened when put back into circulation.
This little dime likely circulated until 1889 when perhaps the date of 1843 had some meaning. Then after a time of serving as a momento was put back into circulation, perhaps some struggling person in the great depression in desperation. Then put aside as something different in 1934. So all told this dime circulated for nearly 100 yrs
The story this dime could likely tell

Nice any bust half goodies
Would be pretty cool to have been a PT Barnum.
Love tokens were so prevalent I would doubt it. But what a charming piece. Is the date placement enough to ascertain the mint?
