Gettysburg Thanksgiving Show Report
The Thanksgiving Gettysburg Show was this Friday and Saturday. It was held in the All Star Sports Complex instead of the ballroom. Future shows will be back in the ballroom. This weekend was the Dog Show which is booked every 5 years on Thanksgiving week in the ballroom.
Friday the attendance was excellent but Saturday's attendance was light. Even though attendance was down sales were great! The positive was that all dealers said they had a great show. Normally, I do not setup at shows but Thanksgiving I setup due to fewer dealers attending. For reference, I DO NOT take the front tables.
Everything was selling! Foreign coins and notes, bullion, type coins, key date coins, US notes, complete sets, off the wall sets, wheat rolls and wooden presentation boxes.
Many individuals came in selling type coins, gold and silver, certified coins and notes. When I see what the public is selling, I direct them to the dealer who primarily deals in what they are selling. As the promoter I DO NOT purchase from the public. I feel it is a conflict of interest to do so.
There were no security issues. Dirk, Keith and Steve are very professional and keep everybody safe.
Now for the bad! The Event Complex only offered greasy hotdogs, chips and drinks. I do not know what happened, but they were supposed to sell an array of sandwiches.
I only bought a BU war nickel set from Karl Reidel a dealer from Virginia Beach.
If you are a dealer or collector, I invite you to the next Gettysburg Show April 3-5, 2025.
