Black Friday show report and NewP
Howdy all,
A fairly quick show report for you all, and a fabulous NewP to show off a bit. As many of you know, I set up at a variety of shows across the Midwest and Hawaii. The Black Friday show is a smaller, two-day affair after Turkey Day., in Tulsa, Ok. It has always been a good show for me, even in COVID (that was an adventure). This year it fell three weeks after the HSNA show in HNL, which did impact my sales, more later. But first, the good stuff.
This show ALWAYS has something interesting at it for some reason, stuff just comes outta the woodwork. I’ve found all kinds of great raw coins, slabbed stuff, stuff in general. Thus particular NewP is amazing. I haven’t seen anything on the market like it for 7 years (at auction, that I trust), and over a decade since I found one in the wild. What could this awesome coin be?
To start, I’m not sure if it would be Ricko (tm) approved or not, since it has some seriously fabulous color! The surfaces are a deeper tourmaline blue/green, that slowly gives way to lighter color toward the rims. A beautiful splash of purple greets the observer on the reverse at around 7 o’clock. Though the edges fade the color a bit, this just shows the remarkable and careful storage over the last 40-50 years. Beyond color, the coin has it all. The rims are sharp, no dings or imprints. The design is well executed, no hits, scratches, or dings that can trouble this issue greatly. It has the whole nine yards! I am tickled pink that I found it. It had a sister, but she was priced too strongly for the issue, and being a different date, I thought I’d wait on it. The seller would not budge…ok, photos at the end, but first, the show report.
As noted, the show is always a good fun show for me. Typical set up is about 35-40 local/regional dealers (except me, I’m the crazy one). It also attracts a few well(ish) known wholesale buyers, and they have typically helped make my show each year. This year, due to the show before, my table was slim pickings for them, as Heritage and others already looked through stuff a few weeks ago. Friday was a strong day, with a good crowd. I didn’t get pics when it was crowded, too busy. Folks were generally buying not selling. I was offered only two things, and one was priced too strongly, the other was not in my wheelhouse. Sales Friday were good, anything from Pennies to CBHs. Dollars were minimal and gold was not moving unless at melt levels. 90% was stagnant. Bullion was pretty meager too. Saturday was slower, but I did make a few more sales, and some bullion left my possession at a reasonable margin. ASEs were trading at plus $5, bars and rounds around +2-3, generic gold was around melt. Key date coins moved a bit, but at or behind grey sheet levels.
Here’s a few photos from the bourse, a nice typical show!
And here’s my NewP! Comments are always welcome!
Cheers,

Ps. I also found a pair of these. Same seller. Pretty nice!

Great show report and thanks for sharing. Beautiful toning on that Morgan. If you get it slabbed, please let us know the results.

I really like that blue Morgan.
I guess I am missing something?? What are you showing as your newp?
Interesting looking coins!
The box! It’s an unopened CC (likely 1883).
Thanks
Thanks for your show report.
I must say those 2 Morgans are "neat and Tidy". Thanks for the photos.
Lovely Morgans. Love the coins and the cards. Thanks for posting!
