Canada Post strike: Back to work as of December 17th 2024 (strike has ended after 1 month)

I live in Canada. Thankfully I only have 1 coin in ''limbo'' at the moment.

If you are sending coins to Canada via USPS they become Canada Post so beware to all sellers.

So far they have been on strike for 2 weeks. Wonder when the Federal Government will intervene. Usually they do before Christmas. This seems to happen every 4 years or so.

I'm in Canada too and had what I thought were graded ICCS coins returning to me when the strike started, but ICCS held off shipping the coins back to me so they are still there (dodged a bullet).

Also, a BST transaction on this forum has been agreed to but delayed due to the strike.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Postal Service has temporarily stopped accepting mail headed to Canada due to the strike by Canada Post workers, and is asking customers to refrain from mailing items addressed to Canada, until further notice.

If you are using eBay International Shipping, my understanding is that after it gets to eBay hub they use different service than Canada Post once in Canada. I sold some stuff and 3 purchases are going to Canada. Two are going to eBay hub and the other buyer wanted UPS or FedEx. UPS was cheaper so that is what they are getting. I had to cancel sale and relist on eBay Canada with BIN to get their actual mailing address.

I did end up going ebay international. I don't recall if it ends at Canada Post or not. For some countries, it does enter the local sovereign post, others not.

What i meant by ebay covering me is that they protect sellers from disruption delays.

The strike is still ongoing hopefully this ends soon. Luckily nothing I need has showed up for sale hope it stays that way till this mess gets sorted out.

Not sure maybe but I know UPS always collects import fees if there are any they charge a lot in my opinion. But at least your buyer got his package.

it was the eBay international that got delivered by the ePAQ Select Direct Access Canada DDP. I was wondering if that is a delivery service in Canada or something like Amazon delivering for eBay international.

Same hope this ends soon before a coin I need comes up for sale. Would have to ask for FeDex but that is crazy on the type of coins I buy 100$-200$ mostly per coin. FeDex would cost me 70$ minimum.

Today Canada Post rejects recent offer made by union.

This is going to drag on we need our PM to intervene and get this over with ASAP. Sucks for so many people in Canada. Me I am just one person but so many need this service daily to maintain their livelihoods.

At least I have a friend that lives in the USA that can help till this is over. He would buy the coin for me and I would pay him plus any other shipping costs. So that gives me peace of mind.

I understand the postal employees but I also feel sorry for those suffering because of this. Some may actually die because of this. People that live far away from pharmacies that need their daily meds shipped in is one example.

So my little coin problems are really low on the needs list of survival. I feel sorry for those paying a much heavier price.

Seems like the government got involved they are going to force Canada Post back to work. We will see when that happens could be as fast as Monday December 16th. This seems like like what happened last time. A few weeks before Christmas they went back to work.
