Coin Of The Year (COTY)

Does anyone collect COTY coins? There are some pretty imaginative coin designers out there. Buying one coin per year might produce an interesting, eclectic collection.
Being somewhat of a science geek, I like the Cook Islands Historic Instruments series, such as this astrolabe coin. I've never seen this coin in person, though. They are pretty large coins, weighing in at 2 Troy ounces and 45mm in diameter, so not suited to standard capsules and storage boxes.

I have owned a few and still have some but it wasn't because I actively sought to buy COTY winners.
Fox example, I collect the Austrian silver niobium series and those coins have won several times in the bimetallic coin category.
I do think it would be a cool set to put together and PCGS even has a registry set made for them:
