I hope this post is allowed. A very unusual GTC Quiz.

GUESS THE COST QUIZ:

What do you think the weekly expenses for a top TPGS are? Remember to include, heat/air, insurance, postage, salaries, supplies, telephone, etc. but exclude building maintenance, show travel, taxes, advertising, and rent.

Sorry, I don't even have a clue where to begin so this may become a dead thread immediately.

Ummm…. I’m thinking about $50,000 per week might be a theoretically realistic cost. I doubt that it is accurate, but if you told me that is what it cost I’d probably believe you.

I have no idea. Have you tried asking one of the moderators? I'm sure they would be more than happy to provide you with this information.

I find the exclusions bewildering. AC might be expensive. Hot air is cheap.

For most businesses, labor costs will be 60% + of total expenses.

According to Statista, the average annual pay for employees in California in 2023 was around $87,404, which includes both salaries and benefits; this figure represents the total cost of employment in the state for that year.

Why don't you just pull up their filings from when they were publicly traded?

this post might be closed come Monday morning, I hope you get your responses by then :#

  • @jmlanzaf You have proven to be a very educated man. You may not know all the answers but you know where to find them.

I slimmed the doc and saw no large numbers or gross income. Also, I'm not asking about PCGS specifically just the big two. I'm going to guess at least 130K/week and I think it could possibly be close 200K. I forgot about all the ball card, ancients, and paper money divisions. Now over 300K a week. We'll never know. Just the return postage on thousands of packages a week must be huge.

PCGS was a publicly traded company (well, it was part of CLCT). I'm sure you can look through some of the old earnings reports and find expenses by quarter and go from there.

A lot less than the plastic they sold.

It's in there. Gross expenses were $33 million, but CLT us more than just PCGS. I'm sure you can find more filings since I've pointed you in that direction.

  • That's better, over half a million dollars a week a while back so probably more today. But that covers all the expenses. Thanks
