i've seen the gold foil labels and you don't want them

Is this the new "Official" FH thread now that we should be reporting all of our purchase numbers tomorrow to prove how fast it will sell out, or not? We no longer can see the available numbers after the Mint revised the website code, so it is not as fun.

Or should the new, new thread start Friday morning when the HLL is lifted?

I am buying one, looking at it, if it is not perfect, I will be selling it raw, and if it looks really good, I will be sending it in for grading.

Actually, it is a very simple decision, and I don't even need to read any more lengthy advice from experts, who are clearly speculators at best, as to 70 percentages, long term sales or mintage numbers, future value, etc.

Good luck and I hope you all get nice examples when they show up. Cheers.

Definitely not before Friday, if then. Now that we know everything there is to know about the silvers, advance and/or bulk buyers bought around 10K of them, leaving 40K for regular sale. At $104 each, including a free lottery ticket for what turned out to be a $3K+ medal.

THEY did not sell out in the first 24 hours, and, after a few minutes in the waiting room right at noon on the first day of sale, they were easily obtainable right up to the point the HHL was lifted. No reason to expect anything different for a $3,640 coin with no free lottery ticket. Even though far less than 40K will be available. Likely around 15K +/-. More than 1/3 as many at 30x the price = no first day sell out.

There will be nothing to see, or report, until noon on Friday. Other than that you got in and got out with no problem, once the initial waiting room clears at noon.

Then, on Day 2 at noon, they will either sell out and take off in the secondary market, or not. My money is on "not," due to the price and quantity offered, but we'll see. At which point, if they don't sell out, it will be interesting to see whether buyers who have been posting offers for the past week or so honor them. TBD.

But I HAVE been saying to buy it if you like it. No advice there.

If you are buying for a flip, my advice is to be careful, because you very well might find yourself stuck in it if it doesn't sell out. Unless you are going to return it immediately.

Based on pre-sales and other comments regarding the manufacturing process, your odds of a 70 are extremely high. Of course, if that pans out, the premium sellers are now getting for 70s will almost certainly disappear once the market figures that out. Because, if 80%+ are 70s, 70s aren't special, and don't warrant a premium.

At a $1000 premium to the gold it's made from, I think I'll sit on the sidelines.

It’s unavailable already at 12:04? Anybody else seeing this?

  • Everything was going well until it asked for the security code to my CC that was on file, couldn't find my wallet so opted to try PayPal option. Threw me in a waiting room and boom-- it's gone. I'm happy I saved myself some money but now I want it even more... haha

A couple others told me sold out already.

    Yep unavailable

  • ChrisH821ChrisH821 Posts: 6,525 ✭✭✭✭✭

I'm very surprised these went unavailable already. I feel like that's bad news for buyers since all 17.5K have sold and will be "in the wild". That is not a small population.
I wonder what percent of buyers purchased just to resell.

I don't even believe that there was enough demand to sell 15k coins in 4 minutes. That's over $50 million in orders. Can the website even handle that volume of transactions? I wanted one and didn't get it.

The reported order numbers from the us mint earlier span around 7k. Coinworld mentioned all 17,500 produced. Numbers not adding up even accounting for Baltimore and early bulk program.

    Tuesday should know sales number

I bought mine in person today in Washington DC since I was there on vacation. They were telling me sales were strong.

I'm guessing DC doesn't have sales tax on coin and bullion purchases? That would be a painful additional cost.

the mint hq has a sales counter in the lobby
