Newp: Colorado 1oz. Silver - Leshers Referendum Souvenir

I'll likely never own an original one of these so I impulse purchased a 1984 re-strike.
A total of 1,000 were minted and each was struck in one ounce .925 sterling silver.
Struck by the American Numismatic Association in order to raise funds for the restoration of the Lesher House in Victor, CO. These pieces were also based on the octagonal so-called Lesher/Referendum Dollars struck from 1900-1901 by Joseph Lesher.

Very attractive restrike and quite reminiscent of the originals. Never seen these restrikes before. Thanks for sharing it.
If memory serves, Dave Bowers struck these in 1984 after buying Lesher's old homestead. The thought was, it would help offset the cost of restoration. (As stated on the token)
BTW, I have seen a massive amount of original Leshers for sale over the last 3-4 years, all at exorbitant prices. Some really rare ones, too. Though I don't know if they're selling at these levels.

I saw that too when I was looking at these... I've always thought they were cool and the story behind them as well. Much too spendy for my comfort level which is why I got this when I had the chance.

Those are neat.
There is also a similar 1993 "Victor, City of Mines" piece:

Never seen that one @dcarr

Nice pickup @Meltdown . I always liked these. For a while they were reasonable to pick up so I’ve bought a few over the years. Then, the prices have gone up considerably . Are they still pricey? I have a few raw ones and one in a holder.
Never knew if it was original to the medal or not.

Very cool, nice find!
Depends on what you consider pricey... I paid $120. That seems pretty fair after checking recent sold listings.

Thanks for the info. I bought mine around $75-$85 so I think $120 is okay as I purchased mine several years back.
