I cherry picked myself.

In looking through some proof Franklins I have I found two varieties that are part of the complete proof variety Registry Set. They are the 1961 FS-803 DDR and the 1962 FS-801 DDO. Both were graded PF67 by our host and they are not attributed.
Kinda fun.

Yup, another reason to revisit one's own collection, from time to time. Peace Roy

Exactly! I've done the same thing on more then one occasion, in the fear of having something significant and not knowing it.

Now you have to find the ones you thought you had LOL.

I know that 09-S-VDB is here somewhere, I saw it last week! LOL!

Been there and done that myself! But then I've been in the hobby for a some decades..... and things change new varieties are found all the time!
Cool
Any photos?
TTT.
After some more looking I found another 1962 FS-801 DDO proof half dollar (this one is raw).
I also found a raw 1955 Bugs Bunny half.
Next on the list will be looking at the coins in my collection for Kennedy half dollar varieties (the reason for variety hunting myself is that two Fridays ago I attended a local coin show and while there picked up copies of Vol. 1, 2 & 3 of the Sixth Addition of the Cherrypicker's guide).
If you don’t want to feel like you ripped yourself off by getting a steal, you’re welcome to send me the difference in value. I won’t mind.
Speaking of cherry picking... Make sure you double check all your straight graded slabs. I've found errors and varieties in some of them.

TTT, again.
Tonight I found a raw 1966 SMS DDO half dollar in my Dansco Kennedy Album. Not sure which particular one yet.
Fun stuff.
Good for you!
I’ve found an 1864 Small Motto 2c and a 1956 Type 1 proof Franklin in my collection so far (years ago and years apart).
I’m hoping I have something else lurking in my stuff to uncover someday.
Does this count?
In the last week...
At work, I have a screen saver of a gorgeous toned proof.
Got to looking at it.
An unattributed DDO has been staring me in the face for a couple years.
Sold it long ago.

I've been lucky cherry picking myself. I found the second known WB4 in my 74-S slot, and an EDS 1855/854 WB-1 in my 1855 normal date slot. Three other coins were R6's.
I showed the 74-S WB-4 a few times on the CU forums before I downloaded Bill Bugert's keys. Nobody noticed that it was a WB-4. It was quite a thrill to identify it and learn that it was only the second one identified (there are currently 3 known) and then reading that BB considered it to be a "super-rarity."
I had never examined my 1855 "normal date" purchased raw off eBay years earlier. It was just a "meh" VF35; original but with some granularity, a black stain, and some brown crud on it. I was surprised when I finally examined it under a 'scope and saw the strong WB-1 overdate. It was much more conspicuous than the ho-hum 1855/54 I purchased off Heritage auctions.
Thanks to @PCGS_Hy, it's currently at PCGS to fix a "mechanical error." The cert. page identifies it as a normal date.
Oh, I also found a 1954-S/D nickel in my Whitman folder.
Barberian.
Great cherrypicks from your own collection.
I was not aware that nickels were minted in 1854 (Or is 1854 a typo and you meant 1954).
Finished with half dollars and dollars.
Moving on next to looking at the quarters in my collection to look for some more cherries.
LOL!
I collect mostly 19th century coins and am typing in 18## all the time, so I often make that mistake with 20th century coins.
Edited to add:
I just looked up photos and the Coin Prices value for the 1961 PR DDR in PR67. YOWZA! It's over 140 times the value of a normal proof, and the price for the 61 DDR seem low compared to auction prices! That's worthy of a "YOU SUCK!" award.
My picks are miniscule compared to that major bonanza. The 1962 PR DDO value is more in line with my best cherries in terms of increased value. The DDO looks very subtle in the PCGS plate photo. Congrats on both proof Franklins.
I'm sorting through the collection my gf's recently deceased father left to the family including a run of Proof sets from 1957 onward. I'll have to check the 1961 and 1962 proof sets carefully and research other proof varieties. That 1961 DDR was a major revelation to me. I'll report back.
No luck with the two 1961 proof sets. I'll keep looking for DDOs and DDRs on the rest of the sets.
In 2011 I got lucky and bought a 1961 proof set in OGP that had a half dollar that looked like a possible Cameo from a local shop. Hours later I looked closely at the half and saw that it is the big DDR. Our host graded it PF67.
That is my best cherrypick.
So I had this coin for sale as an 1868 and someone let me know it is really an 1866 😆. I then realized it is a RPD (an FS-301). Not a huge “score” but very cool, so it goes back in the collection.
TTT.
So far I have checked for CPG varieties in the half dollars and quarters in my collection. I have found some coins that are varieties and some coins that possibly are varieties..
One coin I did find is a 1968 D DDR FS-801 quarter that is Mint State.
Don't forget these!
