You may want to check with PCGS that they will be there Saturday AM.

No.
I will be there! Table 1131 - Rising Sun Rarities.
I was there just a few weeks ago. Just a bit of advise, avoid the neighborhood called middle east at all cost. Darn Google, I barely made it out of there alive. Stay safe.
I won't be attending. To all who do, Safe Travels.

There is no neighborhood called middle east. Not sure where you were but the Whitman Coin show is held at the Convention Center in downtown Baltimore during daylight hours.
I don’t have any dog in this fight, but this is what comes up on Google Maps:
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Interesting and thank you! I never knew that neighborhood was called Middle East. Thank you for the clarification. I do see that it is very close to Johns Hopkins hospital.
However, that area is no where near the Convention Center so attendees should not have to drive through that neighborhood to get there.
Couple years ago, I missed the exit ramp coming off 95 and tried an alternat route, went thru a rough area, look liked some of the scenes you see on movies on tv, got the hel out of there in a hurry
Every major city has neighborhoods like that....life in the big city!🤣😂
I did not care for the convention area when the ANA was last held there in 2008. I sure would not like it now.
If anyone attending sees an 1874-CC or 1875-CC TRADE dollar in a PCGS holder graded XF45 with original surfaces and good eye appeal, please send me a private message. Not interested in any other dates or grades. CAC a huge plus. Thanks, and enjoy the show!

I asked my friend who has a table to keep an eye out for you
Thank you! I'm trying to put together an XF45 Carson City silver type set. I'm actually looking for a dime, quarter, and half dollar too, but figured I might as well attempt to fill the trade dollar slot first if I could. There are two XF45's on eBay right now -- one is pretty dark and the other has some black spots on the obverse. And since I'm no good at detecting wiped/cleaned coins (these even show up in straight-graded holders), I try to let CAC or more knowledgeable people advise me.

The Inner Harbor area isn't so bad. I live just outside the city. I park a block from the (opposite end of the) convention center and walk in for every show. I never feel unsafe. Over the years, I have been approached by beggars a couple times, but not recently. I'll be at this week's show on Friday.

Why is this topic broached every time a Baltimore show comes around? I have NEVER felt unsafe or approached by ANYBODY. The Convention site has never seemed anything other than safe. My coin buddy has two bad hips and walks as slow as molasses - would possibly be a good target? Never has he been approached.
When in cities I always keep my eyes open and stay cool - no problems. None.
Well, just Love coins, period.
I know the answer but I don't want to start the same old argument and I don't want to get banned quite yet.
As someone who lives in Baltimore, it’s always frustrating telling people where I’m from and having people basically tell me to my face the place I call home is a shithole. And it’s always frustrating when it comes up as a topic on the internet because anytime Baltimore is mentioned the discussion invariably turns to all of the city’s negatives.
Does it have its problems? Absolutely, and inarguably worse than most cities. Could you potentially drive through areas of extreme poverty? Sure, if you make a wrong turn or come in from a specific side of town.
But your chances of being the victim of any crime, let alone violent crime, are extremely slim. The convention center is in one of, if not the safest, areas of the city. The worst thing that may happen is a homeless person coming up to you and asking for some change.
I’ve been visiting or living in Baltimore for the better part of 30 years. As have tons of my friends and family. If we’ve managed to survive, so will anybody coming to the inner harbor for a coin show.
Yes, I wish the doubling down would stop. Not quite sure of the nomen "Charm City" but it is OK and have never hesitated to take my son or older mother to the Inner Harbor.....
Well, just Love coins, period.
Don’t believe the fear mongers - Baltimore’s Inner harbor is a wonderful area, extremely safe and lively.
Casual collector, mostly Morgans & Peace Dollars.
I live 40 min away & have to travel today. SO bummed to miss it!!
There’s no need to speculate or fear monger, as the crime stats are publicly available information at the URL below. Anyone can and should make their own individual risk/reward assessment, no need to sensationalize or publicize here.

(convention center is the red star)
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
This can be misleading. Do they offer dates and times of each crime? Bet most of these occur at NIGHT.🙄
I have been to the show several times (can't make it this year) without any problem. As with any big city, one should always be alert.

Is anyone working on a show report?
I will have one up after the show wraps up.
I will attend the Baltimore show on Friday. I will visit a bunch if dealers and pop in to see John Agre of Coin Rarities online , Andy Shrabalak and bring him his favorite Diet Coke and of course Laura, George and Jose at Legend and John Albanese at CAC Grading, also a must see is Doug Winters who is great in locating wonderful $20 Liberties.
I know why it is less safe and therefore choose not to take on even more risk. It’s not just Baltimore, but it is Baltimore.
Hi All, We had an amazing start to the show yesterday with incredible attendance. All the dealers I spoke with were active and doing plenty of business. The US Mint released the 2024 Gold dollars as well, so there were lines to get in, and lines for the Mint. Baltimore is like any other major city but the are working on it and one has to be careful wherever you travel. We hope to see you here, if not this week, then some time in 2025!

Oreville if I had known you were going Friday, I might have tried to make it. Work as usual is keeping me down.
Been to Baltimore show probably 20 or so times. Not quite what it used to be but always well run.
And it’s at least as safe as Parsippany show! Inner Harbor is reasonably safe. As we have covered before, the real danger is possibility of coin show thieves. And they can be a problem at any show but I feel like Baltimore has solid security. Careful in the parking garages and other isolated locations outside the show.

You did not miss anything. I tried an experiment in sleeping from 8 pm to 1 am on Thursday evening and waking up at 1 am to drive to Baltimore and beat the traffic. It worked well but I paid for it dearly during the day as I was virtually sleepwalking throughout the show. I managed to submit 13 stickered NGC slabbed $20 Liberties and a group of 1908 NM Saints. (I did not realize I had so many 1908 NM Saints. Did they procreate?)
I also submitted a fantastic 1904 PCGS/CAC MS-66+ $20 Liberty to CAC hoping it will cross to CACG at CACG MS-66+. If it crosses at 66+ it will be the very first CACG MS-66+ 1904 Saint in a CACG holder as they have never graded one nor any in MS-67. I am optimistic.
I showed this 1904 $20 Liberty to Doug Winters and he really liked it as an MS-66+ but agreed with me it was not a 67. I decided to buy an outstanding 1879 $20 Liberty in NGC/CAC MS-61 (which looked more like a MS-62) from him after I returned home from Baltimore and caught up on my sleep.
Since I was barely functioning all day the only coins I bought at the show were two raw 1924 Peace Dollars from Andy Lustig, one in Fair-02 condition and it looked awesome as a gift for my upcoming 2nd grandson. The other 1924 Peace Dollar was for my nearly 3 year old grandson and is in XF-AU and paid $50 for the pair. I did not want my 1st grandson to get nothing for the holidays.
At least I got my coin buying fix at the show.
