I found two cents that I forgot that I owned. I was medicated for a year and do I remember that I was buying stuff and securing it well. There is probably more hidden around because I wanted to spend some savings in case I didn’t last long.

I accidently hide stuff from myself all the time. For me, it’s when I’m going out of town for trips, I always look around for anything out that is numismatic related and hide it real good. Then I totally forget where I hid them about 1/4 of the time. It’s fun when I eventually do find them.

I lost 7 beautiful 2000-P Sacagawea Dollar Speared Eagles once. I tore the house apart for 3 freakin' days!!

Then I realized I submitted them!!

So they were in grading for that long that you forgot about them!

I lost the second buffalo nickel that I ever found in circulation. It was a G4ish 1926. I was so sad.

I put away a 1858 3 cent silver 40 years ago, and to this day have never been able to find where it is!!!!
Yes, it was something like that. I don't submit coins that often and it just totally slipped my mind. I racked my brain for 3 days, then it hit me! I pulled out the copy of the submission form, what a relief!!

I accidentally mailed a Henning nickel to a board member here who had purchased another coin off of eBay.
I had placed the Henning nickel in a bubble envelope for safe keeping and then unbeknownst to memory used that same envelope to mail off another coin.
My pleading to the purchaser feel on deft ears.
I miss that coin and do check eBay occasionally for it (I think I'd recognize it again).
That's disgusting. What an ass the buyer was. Karma is a bitch.
Edited to add: Was it a 1944?
I had a few dates with a female teacher at the West Point Military Academy in the 1980's. She took me down to the beginning of "Inspiration Walk" which is off-limits to non-cadets. I placed an old Large cent in a crevice on low rock wall hoping that it will be found one day in the future.
Yeah, a 1944.
In really XF'ish condition too.
When I sent multiple inquiries to the buyer I was ghosted.
My attitude even to this day:
What member was it?
