Updating my "substandard customer service" post
Folks...
Some of you may remember the update to my original post in which I praised @PCGS_Hy for coming to my aid and doing a terrific job of it. Hy... if you're reading this, please delete my original post. You have my permission.
My graded coins arrived today, within the time period they were promised. Considering the submission was me taking advantage of a modern coin express special, that's especially nice.
I'm very pleased with the three 70 grades I received. But out of 5 proof silver Eagles I submitted (virtually identical through a 7x magnifier, all received 69s. Here's one example.
Not one of the 5 merited a higher grade? Thinking seriously of submitting them elsewhere in hopes of a crossover.
Same goes for this proof silver Ike which was in its original mint large slab. I see nary an issue, yet PCGS graded it a 68. IMO it's a 69 or better. The coloring alongside the rim is the photo. It's completely clean to the naked eye.
I'd send it in for a crossover, but it's totally not worth it, as I'm sure you'll agree. '72 silver proof Ikes get no respect anyway and I don't know why.
Quite the experience, all in all. Remember... I'm still a rookie playing A-league ball, so if anyone feels the need to hit me with snark, that's on you. I always value constructive and thoughtful comments and criticism.

When you send a coin to any TPG you are asking, and paying, for their expert opinion. Sometimes its not what we think. Sometimes its better than what we think.
Why start a new thread rather than update the original one, where readers would have the full context?

I'm seeing a pretty large mark below UNITED on the reverse of the eagle.
I see no reason why the haze on the Ike shouldn't drop it a point or two, especially when it is generally seen as a net negative.

It definitely would max it at 69. So 68 isn't a stretch.
That's why I wrote what I wrote. It's the photo. There's no haze on the coin.

You make a good point. I did so for a couple of reasons. You'll note I asked Hy to delete the original post, since things worked out well. I figured he'd be more likely to read this new post. Also... anyone can click on me and look up the old post. I remember it was very well-viewed. Still learning, my friend.

Ownership adds a point, as they say.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Actually, there is haze on the coin. The photo just makes it more obvious.
‘’I'm very pleased with the three 70 grades I received.’’
Where are those? Maybe they were “liners” that might have graded 69 next time through? Why just look at the couple worst grades without showing the few best grades?

I sincerely doubt this.

So you’re saying pcgs put a trueview picture of someone else’s Ike covered with haze and filth and tied it to your perfectly clean reflective deep fields proof coin? You’re right, you probably needed to start a new thread to complain about the switcheroo they pulled on you.
So you’re saying you had a desire to exaggerate and misrepresent what he posted.

Here you are. You'll notice a black or white dot here or there when you enlarge the photos. PCGS wouldn't have given me 70s if they were on the coin instead of being dust or whatever that showed up in the pix (proving True View is far from infallible) :

BTW--thanks, as always, to @MFeld. And congrats to @1madman. I knew I'd receive at least one disrespectful, snarky comment, so thanks for not disappointing me.

My comment is not intended to be disrespectful at all. I posted it to make you think of what happened. Did pcgs take an absolutely horrendous picture of your beautiful coin, because this has been a commonplace occurrence over the last year. Or does the coin actually have haze on it, and at least fairly represents the look? No coin with haze is going to garner a 70 grade at any respectable tpg company.
All news anchor: very nice 70 grade coins!
