Six years ago today

Six years ago today, a fire took our home with everything in it and burned it to the ground and also pretty much wiped our town of Paradise off the map. It was without question the worst day of our lives. It was the Campfire that killed 80 good people and destroyed so many people’s life’s and property.
I want to give thanks to the good people at PCGS for helping in many ways. All the good people here on this forum stepped up with a go fund me setup by my good friend Jim Bowling. That money helped us tremendously as we were staying at hotels and eating at restaurants with my entire family in tow along with 4 dogs and 2cats. All of my slabs melted in my fire safe but my coins were still good so PCGS stepped up and offered to reholder all of my coins free of cost. There were about 250 slabs that melted so it wasn’t an easy task and was expensive too. I will forever be grateful to this forum and PCGS for helping my family over the hump. We all have bought new homes and have put our lives back together. It makes me very happy to say that too.
Here is a photo of my son and myself at the 2019 FUN show where I submitted all of my melted slabs to PCGS.
From the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you again,
Joe and family.

While so many paid the ultimate price, God Blessed many with their lives. So glad you and your family were one of them. While we hear so many complaints about our forum's landlord, PCGS showed its colors that day that it helped Joe with such a generous gift. We are all so happy to have you still with us, Joe(and your family). I agree, great photo.

I’m proud to hang out with you here. (My home did not dodge a hurricane thirty years ago—water took my stuff out.)

Glad you are here. You are one of the good ones.

I am a newer collector (started April 2020), and I primarily focus on U.S. Half Cents and Type Coins. Early copper is my favorite.

So good that you survived and that your collection at least did too.

On the ABC news this evening there was a shot of someone sifting through wads of raw coins that had been through one of the very recent fires. I hope none were valuable.
