1869 2 Cent Triple Repunch Date. KF-2-TPD

I have a 1869 2-cent piece that is shown in Kevin Flynn's "Getting Your Two Cents Worth" on page 94, as KF-2-TPD: a Triple Punched Date. The key description is the, "...**first 1 shows clearly above the base, to the left of and above the top. The second 1 can be seen half way up the 1 on the left side." **Interestingly, the publication does not have a photo that shows the second repunch. Cherrypickers, Ediition 5 has a photo of the variety (FS-02-1869-302 (004)) that faintly shows the second repunch, but doesn't mention it.

My photo clearly shows the first repunch, and the second one shows as a light line a little above 1/2 way up the left side of the 1. The 2nd repunch is visible with an 8X loop in good light.** Is this variety recognized anywhere else other that Kevin Flynn's publication?**

Maybe ANACS does, honestly, I cannot see this line you mention along the left side of the numeral one in your photo. And if it needs 8X or higher to be seen I doubt that very many are interested in it.

If it is in the Cherrypickers' Guide then PCGS recognizes it. It looks like your coin might match this RPD:

I do not know if maybe ANACS would give it a Flynn number, or perhaps SEGS if they are still around. Two cent pieces are a thin market to begin with, and varieties even thinner, so there is not much market pressure on any of the TPGs to put forth the extra effort in attributing them.

Looks like a KF-2-TPD to me, and it carries a premium.

The 8 also has the horns of a RPD. Nice one!

I'm sure ANACS would certify it in a heartbeat, maybe not as a Flynn # but most defiantly as an RPD-001 (also known as a Breen 2399).

I happen to collect 2 Cent Pieces...and yes "I'm thin".
