    You can "see" the original mint mark tail in the 'shadows'

    I don't have better pictures, as it is something that I was planning on buying. Based on the responses, It probably isn't, however I think that I may still buy it if I can get close to melt, and if I do I will take better pictures.
    It would be a nice addition to my cherrypicker's guide collection.

    Yes. The larger portion of the loop of mintmark should be on the bottom, not the top, like on the OP image. IMO.

    It does to me, even with the hit on the lower portion, but I have never collected this type error., so maybe not the best person's opinion. Here is a pcgs closeup of the inverted "s".

    Comparing OP coin's MM with the MM in the PCGS image, I agree with the damaged mintmark theory.
