"Where do you live?" for those español challenged
I know where some of you do, but many I don't. Thought it might provide an assist in getting to know each other a touch better. Share as much or as little as you'd like.
Born & raised Texan here. Born near the Mexico border (Laredo), grew up in the western part (Abilene), moved to Houston many years ago......where I am now.

I was born in Boston, and as an infant moved about 40 miles North staying in Massachusetts until I was 22 then moved to Chicago for 6 months then to Normal Illinois for a short time then back to Massachusetts until about 8 years ago when I moved in with my girlfriend on the seacoast in New Hampshire.
I still work in Massachusetts and both my parents still live in the same house that's been in our family since 1865
Grew up in Connecticut until the 4th grade. Moved to Philly in the 5th grade.
Looking to move to Martha's Vineyard or Palm Beach, but I can't afford it. 😉
Soooo You were born a Patriots fan?
😁
Same family house from 1865 - Very cool indeed.
I'd like to sweep the house and property with a metal detector to possibly find some coins for my collection. 😎
My town of Fairfield, CT was all Yankees and Mets fans. No Boston area fans at all that I recall.
Mantle cards were worth their weight in gold, even back then. 😊
Ahh ok I've heard of parts of Connecticut leaning towards New York over Boston.
Trust me I've been through the entire house, no collectors in my family tree on my father's side just gamblers lol
My father told me when he was a kid my great Grandfather showed him a Ty Cobb card from tobacco I think he said it was but it probably just got discarded over the years we had a fire in 1980 that unfortunately destroyed a lot of stuff.
My friend metal detected in the fields behind the house and found some buttons and musket balls from the civil war era, apparently there was a union encampment way back there.
Born and raised 20-30mins away from Boston and have lived in state for all but roughly 6-7yrs when I lived in New Hampshire.

Born and raised in Central Maine (Bangor area) Wifes family is from the white mountain region of NH. We live right outside of Bangor. Grew up with all Sox, Pats, Celts, Bruins fans. believe it or not, the "home town team" back in the 50s was the NY football Giants. this would be pre Patriots. NY was the closest NFL team. there are still a few old timers around that sport Giants blue up here!!! My old PE teacher in high school was an old time giants fan.
The Giants actually came up and played a preseason game against the packers up here in bangor 1959. the giants won and it was the only NFL game ever played in Maine.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Yep my father and his buddies were Giants fans in the 50's, Lenny Moore and Sam Huff they all liked
If i'm remembering right, the TV channels we got were 9 for the Mets, and 11 for the Yankees. Definitely no Boston channels or Red Sox games.
"found some buttons and musket balls"
Very cool.
My brother-in-law has a really nice metal detector. With permission of course, we've swept outdoors, some old home yards, the fields, etc. Only ever found one old horseshoe and a number of rusty nails. 🤷♂️
Born and raised in Lowell, Massachusetts. Left home at 18 and joined the Army. Basic at Ft Jackson SC, then to Ft Harrsion in Indianapolis, IN for more schooling. Travelled by California Zephyr train from Indy to Oakland, CA, It was really cool with two Hawaiian guys playing ukuleles in the dome car. Had a grueling 18 day sea voyage to South Korea, where I spent 13 months. I was there when Kennedy got assassinated.
From Korea I went to Ft Monroe, VA then discharged. Worked for the IRS in Lawrence, MA for 3 months then reenlisted and went to Germany. I applied for OCS and had a fun 6 months from June to November, 1967 at Ft Benning in Columbus GA. After graduation as a 2nd lieutenant, I was assigned to Ft McPherson in Atlanta as a Company Commander. I volunteered to go to Vietnam and spent 8 months in the 1st Infantry Division, the remainder at MACV Hq in Saigon at Tan Son Nhut Air Base. I was very fortunate to make it home ok...got a few awards, including a Bronze Star. Got to see the Bob Hope show with Dean Martin's Gold Diggers and Connie Stephens, who sang Silent Night, you could have heard a pin drop in the sand, it was one week before Christmas, it was in the 90s and we were all 13,000 miles from home...I'm sure you get the picture. I am now a captain.
I was assigned to the AFEES station in Portland, ME for 1.5 years. I was the guy who said "raise your right hand and repeat after me". After 10 years total, I left the Army. I moved to Atlanta, Ga and after some testing and a long wait, I was hired as an Air Traffic Controller and did that for 7 years. I worked at a small airport in Atlanta, then got assigned to Meridian Naval Air Base in Meridian, MS. Was there 2 years, then I got lucky and got selected to Daytona Beach Regional Airport...life was good. Great job, terrible management. I went on strike in Aug, 1981 and was fired along with several thousand other Controllers...not the best decision I ever made, I fell a long, long way.
Thanks to the support of my wife, we somehow made it work. I got hired at General Electric in Daytona Beach. They had a very generous tuition program and I attended Embry-Riddle Aeronuatical University there. Amazingly they gave me 96 credit hours for working experience on a 129 hour Bachelor of Professional Aeronautics degree. I went on to get an MBA in Aviation, where they gave me 6 hours on a 36 hour program. I got high honors in both degrees, this while working full time as a Supervisor of 21 women in a Word Processing office. They almost made me crazy!
My wife was hired by Delta Airlines as a Flight Attendant and we returned to Atlanta and I got rehired with the IRS. The unique thing about Federal Employment is that it all counts for retirement. I retired in 2000 with 34 years of Federal Service. In 2013 my wife and I moved to a retirement community on Lake Oconee, GA. We live 80 miles from Atlanta, and 80 miles from Augusta, GA, just south of I-20 in a very small town called Greensboro.
Life is good.
I was born in Long Island, NY (E Patchogue). My family moved down to Florida (Ft Lauderdale) in 1974 when I was in the 2nd grade. Been here my whole life since. We didn't have much in terms of material stuff growing up, but I wouldn't trade my childhood here for anything! It was sports 12 months a year here for me, playing whatever sport was in season! I specialized in baseball, that was my true passion with football not far behind.

South Side Chicago...
and now Westville...
street Nerf was Pretty Awesome but depending on what street you lived on...
When I was back on the south side, our house was on a corner so for street Nerf football, I had to play on other streets, or on Ave B; though there were many Delay of Game flags thrown because you had to wait for the bus to pass...There were no stop signs going east & west on 108th st... Um...That was a Giant Safety Hazard trying to play Nerf on 108th...
Now playing Whiffle, I had the perfect set up...
Home plate was by the concrete stairs leading to the front of the house...
The pitchers mound was on the city side walk right after the side walk going north & south and between two medium sized maple trees which were the foul poles, right before you stepped on the ave B street ...
any ground ball hit on the grass before the city side walk going north & south was a ground out...If the ball was in hit in the air, which could be a pop out or a fielding error by the pitcher...
any line drive passed the pitcher was a base hit...
any line drive passed the pitcher but in between the stop sign and bus stop sign on Ave B was double shot into the power alley...
any fly ball that got across ave B was a base hit, unless the ball landed in old man John's hedges, that was a ground rule double to where the ball got lost in the ivy...
anything that landed over John's hedges was a homer...
If you guys want to get some Whiffle in...or any football in the back...or this winter for some driveway hockey...Just Lemme Know...And Yes the grill will be going...And...and...I will also have at least 2 or 3 Non-Forum members to act as Bouncers if things happen to get out of hand...
