What's the status of Shohei? Is really injured?
How bad is it? Will he pitch during the W.S.

It was reported that he will play game 3. A left shoulder subluxation. Which is like when your shoulder blade kind of pops out of joint. It’s unpleasant brut there are different grades - some requiring surgery. Sounds like he avoided serious injury. Who knew the fears of him stealing bases were so poignant.

@bgr Thanks. Does that affect his pitching arm?

Its his left shoulder, he throws righty. Could impact his power or require off season surgery if hes just trying to play through it. Dodgers arent going to say anything unless they shut him down

Saw about 30x the same 'injuries' watching European soccer pops and flops this morning......

Flopping is definitely a problem for soccer where it looks like they were shot then are running full speed a minute later lol. Flopping doesnt happen in baseball though especially not with him. He pitched half a year with a torn UCL with the Angels before his first TJ surgery and Bellinger played through a separated shoulder with the Dodgers in the playoffs as well

Its just a question of will there be a long term impact or not and really wont know until the offseason

Curious to see his effectiveness Monday. He must be able to swing the bat otherwise would not be playing. Smoltz stated during the broadcast Saturday that he had 11 dislocations during 1 season.

Flopping in soccer is part of the strategy of the game... more so the European game than elsewhere, but it's pretty ubiquitous. It's also different from "Diving" which is when players feign contact to draw a foul or disrupt the game.

Maybe his translator can pinch hit.

You play the game hard and if a freak accident happens it happens.

We could always put algorithms into MLB The Show and just simulate seasons so no one would ever get hurt

Thanks for the responses. My grandson told me about the injury and I thought he was yanking my chain. Listened to ESPN, watched the scroll, watched the post game and the scroll. NOTHING. An important player is injured and nothing. From your responses I see it's not very serious injury.
Yet many of the pu$$y pitchers get a hang nail and they're on IL for 3 days.
Wishing both Oahtani and Judge the best. Happy to see them in the Fall Classic.

If he gets on base I would be surprised if he steals. Unless the game is on the line.

Just to update this, now that the season is over we know the true injury. He tore his labrum and had surgery to repair the tear the other day

Now that the betting on him is over comes the real story 😆

lol could be some truth to that. MLB teams have for years tried to hide injuries and say as little as possible about them though unless someone is going on the DL

^^^^^^ this. Unless a guy is going to the IL, there is zero upside to releasing exactly what happened in an injury. A labrum is certainly more serious than a minor dislocation. I think that would partially explain Ohtani's drop off in the world series. definitely the final 3 games.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
