Terrible decision from my point of view. This man needs someone to save him from himself.

First thought came to my mind was Jimmy Buffett singing Come Monday.
Gobble.
Perhaps Freud could explain it best. But my two cents analysis, not even worth that. Tua has played football his entire life, and he loves it so much that he probably fears retirement more than he fears CTE.
Perhaps it's something like this, Pacino talking about a "great quarterback" he knew.

All I can say is best of luck to him and hopefully he can stay healthy.
He is a grown man making a decision on his own free will.
Hope it's the right decision for him
I'd like to see him retire but I also know how he loves to play.
I watched the game against Miss State when he first got hurt. At that time, I thought he'd never play again.
Hes probably getting pressured behind the scenes since the Dolphins season is falling apart not to mention the amount of money on his contract. He should have milked it longer but once he was cleared he doesnt really have to much of a choice if he wants to get paid. Hes probably been trying to get back out on the field anyways, the money and stardom is very addicting

Said it before here....I've had 10 concussions that I know about, probably more, and 5 of those were hard KOs. You don't get diagnosed with CTE until you're dead and they can cut your brain up. There's some things now that are in play to test and whatnot, but it's not solid.
I am like 99.9% sure I have CTE, and the symptoms they associate with it....yeah I got all of those and it can be very very ugly on the days when it flips.
My brain is willed and going to donate to research for it even though I'm just some dude. I can tell you though, you don't want to stop doing things that make you enjoy waking up and having a life...he's gonna play, and it's probably a bad thing..you won't convince him otherwise in his 20s, at all....I'm in my 50s and my hard head is the same.
tua will not be hanging it up
his exact words in a recent interview were, "i love this game, and i love it to the death of me"
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
He's declined the Guardian cap, too. If anyone should wear one, it should be him, though I'm not sure how much better protected someone is by wearing one.
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
I honestly don't think those help things. It's more padding and what not but it doesn't take the hit to the head away with any helmet/helmet pops, or the slam on the ground away much. It's a layer of pillow in there basically...turf over concrete, helmet/helmet, pick another head slam.....might help but not much.
If they make a helmet like how a woodpeckers head is with their brain and tongue (look it up), that's the only thing I'd think would have much help toward that.
Theres not really any real evidence other than theoretical those things do much if anything. Theres some arguments they might actually make it worse with the extra weight on the head and playing like you have extra protection that may or may not actually be there. They could just put more padding in the helmets if there was such conclusive evidence they worked.
The one thing they do for sure is protect the league from future lawsuits where they can say we gave the players the option for extra protection and they chose not to wear it

Those helmets are totally lawsuit coverage for the players/union, and good for everyone actually trying to do something with that.
I got knocked silly on the first kickoff one game. Guy about a foot taller than me and maybe 60lbs bigger head shotted me. I don't remember much until the 3rd qtr when I wound up getting an ambulance ride off the field since someone across from me on the line came down hard on the back of my helmet and fractured my neck. I shouldn't have been on the field after the first 15 seconds of the game, I was out on my feet and kept playing. Wasn't even a thought back then, coach slapped your helmet and you stayed on the field. Play before my neck went I do remember raising my hand in the huddle to walk off and tried, didn't happen and dropped on the field, I was foggy for a month min.
Tua is gonna wind up like Favre and everyone else. Play and deal with it later unfortunately, which will happen with all these guys.
Tiger still golfs......different but same, the brain tells you things you shouldn't listen to sometimes.
There is a guy on the Tampa Bucs line that wears one of those helmets.
Saw a Rutgers runner Saturday night vs. USC have a head on hit then was tackled and when he fell to the ground his head slammed down and bounced on the turf. Violent combination.
I am glad Tua made it through the game unscathed. It scares me every time he takes the field
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Tell ya what's scary is watching Brock Purdy diving head first run after run last night, Shanahan best talk some sense into this kid before he gets himself hurt.
These guys just need to slide, it's almost at the point where they don't deserve any sympathy if the dont
I agree. those extra 2 yards are just not worth it. I cant understand why these guys dont get it.
George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.
Get caught up in the moment with competitiveness. In Purdys case its pretty much a contract year for him
