Type set question

How come there isn't a modern type set without the gold, platinum, and commerative coins? I only ask because I'm thinking of starting one but the gold and platinum coins would be out of my price range.

Alan, you can get the gold and platinum pretty reasonably if you go for the smaller denominations and stick to MS pieces. ($49 for a 1/10 oz gold, $79 for a 1/10 oz platinum) -- that's cheaper than some of the other pieces you'll need.

Alan, there are quite a few 20th Century type sets that do not include the gold, platinum or commemoratives.
