If the US Mint resurrected this design would it be a big hit and would you be a buyer?

I personally think if the US Mint brought this back to life, I for one would be ecstatic and would garner much attention. This example was done by the Intaglio Mint and is very well executed imo. This example toned nicely imo, just from putting it into a brown paper bag obverse up for 3 years I believe. So if the US Mint offered it would you consider purchasing one?

That looks like an excellent example of what could be done. ( But not by the US Mint )

Not if they charged $120+ for it. $50, ok.

Yes,as would a lot of others. With the recent offerings of older designs,I expect the Mint will make similar products for collectors..... Picture is a Gallery Mint example.
2026 you can have it struck in gold…. https://www.coinworld.com/news/us-coins/results-announced-from-best-of-the-mint-survey
I have the same Intaglio Mint Bust. The high relief makes it spectacular. Hopefully the 2026 gold bust will be high relief just like the soon to be issued 2024 Gold Flowing Hair
None of them. I think restrikes cheapen the design and are boring. I want the real thing.
They can't just resurrect the design, they have to bring back the original manufacturing methods too.

I love the designs of the early mint. Even the Chain Cent with the scary lady.
That sure is a decent idea 💡
I did not realize they will be striking the gold coins in fractional sizes as well as 1 ounce sizes.
I only see the 1 oz Gold listed on the Mint Product Schedule.
Are they still doing fractional sizes?
EDIT:
OK, in a closer reading the coins listed below will be issued in 2026 and have fractional sizes as well as 1 ounce sizes ,,,,, not the Flowing Hair coin coming out in November, too bad,,,,,
That gold 1oz coin would be close to $3500 at current prices. 😬
Keep in mind the fractional were all remade 2016 and St Gaudens 2009 UHR. The Bust will be only coin not previously reissued.
Some coins have a certain artistic quality with a design that lends itself to replication. The recent Morgans IMO work. Early coins have charm and history and are beautiful in a different way - that should not be attempted.
It is unfortunate that the Oregon Trail Memorial Half was not among the choices as 2026 is the coin's 100th anniversary.
I think modern technology has the ability to make coins better than the original. It does not cheapen the design, if anything, it provides greater access to higher quality versions of the same designs. It is easier to afford a 2023 proof Morgan than it is one from the original series and easier to get them in ultra cameo also. That is a plus for the series. The amount of coins we put out these days are such that there should be something for everybody.
I would not be a buyer.
It might be a “big hit” but I would not be a buyer.

Mint needs to look at the patterns they rejected. Make the School Girl pattern and I'm a buyer.
There will be a companion silver medal which is a new design to represent a modern tribute. Literature refers to the medals as “companions” and will be interesting if only available as a set with gold or stand alone offering.
That is not the only pattern. Shield Earring, Amazonian, Saint Gaudens Cent, Chester Beach's Peace Dollar, Gasparro's liberty, Barber's $20, and many others.
@olympicsos I agree that many of those are nice. Only heard of the 1st two. In my eyes the School Girl is still the prettiest.
yuck, looks like a cheaper modern version, what a travesty, they should know you can never go back
Looks like those silver rounds that use old coin designs. Hard pass especially considering the mint's over pricing of their products.

I may try to buy some to sell, but not to collect.
I have most all my modern gold eagles for sale this week and next at GC. I quit my entire modern gold set I have had since 1980. The reasons are simply that the gold price is up, the Mint is charging very high premiums, and they are minting too many sizes or varieties. I read they will also have privy's; the latest way to generate flipping interest.
These 5 will be nice designs, but to Mint all 4 sizes, means 20 different gold coins to collect just for 2026, plus others they probably are dreaming up. Comic book stuff, etc.
I just don't have that much money to waste on modern gold anymore and will focus on my classic Indians and some silver options instead.

It's just my opinion, but you asked.
It has no appeal to me. If I collected the original series, it might (but only might).
It strikes me (see what I did there? I crack me up) that this is a similar idea to the "new" Morgan and peace "dollars." I had hoped that those would be a one-off, and I bought them the first year because I collect both original series. But I'm losing interest in spending money endlessly now because the Mint found a cash cow, and wants to keep making them. I bought three of each of the 2021 series, have been buying two of each since, and now I'll drop down to one (maybe stopping altogether soon).
No.
