I think you misspelled "wipey"

Pretty, but it looks wiped.

a lot of coins in the museum got the same wipe - is that $20 nothing special, just wiped?
I peruse Euro auctions frequently and buy from time to time. It seems like many European collectors are less bothered by cleaning. Or at least, there is a very high percentage of cleaned coins offered and they seem to sell for reasonably strong prices.

Some thing stinks here 🤔
Looks like a real UNC that is semi PL, die cracks on rev beguile proof status but that is what a real UNC looks like that didn’t spend much time in a bag and have its textures cleaved off. Like many museum relics it has been improperly cleaned while sitting for almost 200 years. Shame, nice coin

It has a different date position than the only currently known proof $20, in a Paris museum.
However, pre-1855 proofs are known to have been created "on demand" by polishing existing business strike dies, with proofs from multiple different dies known in many years.
Proof-like 1850 $20s do exist. @1northcoin .

Even with the different date position aside, the subject coin doesn't look like a Proof.
