Looking for information on this Lincoln Cent album

braddickbraddick Posts: 24,110 ✭✭✭✭✭

I cannot locate detailed information on this Lincoln cent album and am hoping there are members here that either have seen it before or know of its origins.
Thanks!

It is well crafted and somewhat heavy. The inserts are a thick plastic- almost like what
Capital Plastics produced, with a clear plastic cover that locks into place.

I know there has got to be others out there yet I've been unsuccessful in locating anything.

I will guess that Smith made it in Los Angeles.

    Great information.
I am going to hunt for bright red, lustrous cents and add them to this album.

  • While I cannot offer any information, I can tell you that I own the Washington Quarter album by the same manufacturer.

Does it have quarters in it?
According to the NGC thread, the quarters are a lose fit while the cents are spot-on.> @OldeTowneCoinShoppe said:

  • When I bought it, only clad quarters remained within it, and they fit just fine.

I don’t know anything about them either, but I have one for Jefferson Nickels

How heavy are they and how hard to add one coin?

They are heavy, about as heavy as capital plastic holders stacked on top of each other.

Here’s how you open the pages to add coins

Here’s the mechanisms that hold the plastic in place

A couple of pounds, going by heft/feel.
Adding coins is relatively easy. The plastic cover kind of pops and slides off.
For the cents, they fit perfectly snug so you want to make sure you line them up correctly.

Your nickel album looks cool- yet. . . where the heck are the coins?!

I think it would be good to fill it with toned nickels from my Wayte Raymond and Dansco albums if/when the toning looks like it’s starting to get too dark since I don’t think this album would expose the coins to anything that would accelerate toning. I think I have 3 complete sets of Jefferson’s in Wayte Raymond albums and one Dansco, all in various stages of toning.

It looks like Smith Crafted company made tins, binders for magazines and fancy boxes. They also seem to have moved from Los Angeles to Chicago (or maybe they have manufacturing plants in both cities)
