100 Oz Hunt silver bar

My friend’s father passed and left him with this 100 Oz poured Hunt silver bar.
Hunt (Jack Hunt in Buffalo, NY) minted less than 5,000 bars in the early 1980s and my friends father bought it directly from them in 1988(?).
It’s not an Engelhard or JM but it is unique and I have the option to buy it. What would be a fair price (premium if any over spot)?

I have seen a couple 10-troy-oz silver "HUNT" bars sell for about $500 (one was a couple months ago):

Apparently, the 100-troy-oz version (like yours) was produced in the early 1980s, but the 10-troy-oz bars are more recent.
However, 10-troy-oz bars are generally more popular and will usually have a higher premium (per ounce) than the less-popular 100-troy-oz size.
5,000 is a fairly high production total, but many have probably been "repurposed" over the years.
I would guess the market value of the bar shown would be about $3,400.
$3400 sounds reasonable
Dcarr and wingsrule: thank you
Call the number on the bag and find out😜

BTW nice bar
Hey PPP - is this still available for you to purchase? I have been trying to find these ever since my brother passed away this past April. Our last name is Hunt and he owned a coin shop in Indianapolis called “The Coin Hunt”. He purchased one off eBay this past march for $3,500. I was looking to purchase another one to give to my other brother as a remembrance. I would be willing to pay that and whatever premium you would want to procure it.
Thanks!

Yeah, larger gutter bars are extremely difficult to move. Much more practical as door stops or boat anchors. You will ALWAYS be offered less than spot. RGDS!
The whole worlds off its rocker, buy Gold™.
At the recent Denver Coin Expo there was a 100-troy-oz 999 silver "HUNT" bar for sale.
It had significant (but nice looking) vintage toning. I did not ask for a price on it, however.
.
So just buy them under spot then.
100 oz bars are very easy to sell at the right price.
Yes, they are discounted compared to smaller forms of silver.
But this means that they can sometimes be bought at a discount to spot.

Timothyhunt: sorry about your brothers passing. I sent a pm
Just buy as much silver as you can. (advice from a crazy PM fanatic, not a financial investing expert).
