After looking at tens of thousands of State Quarters in bags, roles, and mint sets since 1999 I finally found my first MS69!!!
I receive the impression from reading this forum that modern coins appear to get little respect from many "serious" collectors. When I started having PCGS grade my State Quarters in early 1999 many dealers gave me a funny look and said "you paid ten dollars to get that graded?" I wish I was old enough to have been able go through bags and bags of new Morgan dollars or Liberty halves or to have the money today to buy some of those incredible coins many of you discuss, but that is not my situation.
I love to collect coins and the State Quarters are a challenge I am able to take on. To be able to have found 1 of 12 MS69 State Quarters, out of the over 36,000 that have been graded so far, gives me a fantastic sense of pride as I include it in my set. I assure you that us "modern" guys work just as hard to assemble our sets as many of you do.
I would like to thank Wondercoin, Datentype and other individuals who have helped me build my set so far because nobody can find all the coins for a great set by themselves. As one of my mentors, Bill Spears, would say "the hunt" is what collecting is all about. Let the games continue.

Of course, your coin came from a mint set.

<< <i>Seems like sour grapes are plentiful at the moment. I predict they'll be worth a buck fifty in four years and five month's! >>
At the current modern growth rate, this should be a $100,000 coin in 10 years.
However, just to clarify the pop numbers on the state quarters in ms69 --- as of yesterday, 9 not 12 had been graded ms69, all p-mints including CT, 2 NY, NC, VT, TN, 2 LA and OH. However, today PCGS released updated pop reports and an additional 8 OH and 4 LA have appeared. So the grand total of 21 state quarters in ms69 now appear in the pop report.
Of course, I've seen PCGS pop numbers go up and down mysteriously from one week's online report to the next week's, so who knows if these numbers will hold. But that's the story for at least July 25.
wait a few years, there will be thousands of em, I tell ya!
