Grade opinions appreciated

This coin has been cleaned (lightly?). But I noticed in the Thompkins quarter book that some of pieces listed in his census were lightly cleaned. The book is now getting pretty old so I'm sure others have been located. Curious what others think. Thanks Dave

  • Extremely-fine (40) sharpness but the photos make the surface seem very "flat".

I like it as a 45. Actually if it were mine, I would call it AU50.

What Mark said. XF details. Bust pieces occasionally get a bit of latitude on minor hairlines so it might straight grade- but I doubt it.

AU details cleaned. Look at the stars, it seems better than XF. It's hard to tell what the surfaces would look like in-hand.

That's a beautiful 1818 quarter! If it straight grades, it's a $1000 coin if not more. I would take a chance and send it in, if it were mine. Even if it comes back in a "Genuine" holder, it's worth more than in a 2x2 flip if you ever plan on selling, plus it would be better protected.

Either way, that is a very visually appealing coin in your photos.
