In August of this year I turned 80 and decided it was time to lighten the burden on my eventual heirs and sell my $5 Liberty Gold collection, Number 2 PCGS Everyman Liberty Head $5 Gold (1839-1908) and Number 4 NGC Liberty Head Half Eagles 1839-1908 Registry sets.

40 of them sold last night. Thanks for anyone that bid.

How do you feel overall about the results?

Well, first the good, they all sold. If my memory serves me I think they actually all had bids within the first week. Overall I was very pleased with the results with the total results coming within 4 to 5 percent of my "I'll be really happy" number.

The bad, nothing really except possibly the nail biting final few minutes of bidding.

    The ugly, nada.

I would recommend Great Collections to anyone that had a significant collection they wanted to dispose of in one full swoop. I probably would have been able to do slightly better (or worse) on the BST, eBay or local show but it would have taken longer, been more work on my part, and there are some buyers that are never happy.
