This is not appropriate.
Appropriate or not (and I see no reason why it's "not appropriate"), I'm curious what a "coin club" does at a meeting.
I'm not a candidate for this club, but I used to live in Manhasset, long ago.
Hi, what happens at a coin club meeting you ask? We talk about our latest experiences with coin shows and our latest acquisitions, play show and tell, and some knowledgeable members give us interesting history behind coins, medals, etc. Our members collect US, foreign, ancients and medals and we and enjoy a good deli dinner during the meeting, all without club dues. Too bad you can’t join us!
Why?
Thanks! If I still lived in Manhasset, I would join you! Do you worry about security?
Announcing a local coin club meeting? Do we really want people to use this board for items of local interest?
Maybe some believe we do.
I don’t think announcing my coin club will disrupt the universe and it is a public forum for coins. I’ve done so for the past 10 years and no moderator has said otherwise.
That's funny! We have reports for tiny, local coin shows. We have all sorts of threads that are of interest to a tiny portion of the members here.
What better way is there to get new members than this?
Most of us have the ability to skip a thread we know we have no interest in. Apparently some of you lack that simple ability. I feel for you; I would have thought that the excellently-descriptive title would have given you all the information you needed to just skip over it, instead of wasting your time pooping on it.

Certainly I do and
always have since I've been here.

I'm going to my local Kroger this afternoon to check out the COINSTAR reject slot. Does anyone want to go with me?
