    :'(

Rest in Peace Pete; you were my favorite player when I was growing up in the 1970s; and I was/am a Padres fan.

Love/hated the guy as a player because he was never on my favorite team. Loved/hated him as a retired player because for every truth he spoke he'd do 3 things that were just borderline idiotic.

He must have been a lot to live with but the guy's a legend. RIP.

  • He was my idol when I was growing up. Heartbroken when he was (rightfully) banned. Got to meet him at his Vegas ‘residency’. I was the only one there so we got to talk baseball for a few minutes. I think it was 2013 because we talked the Red Sox chances that year. I got my autograph and left.

They say never meet your idols. For me it was bittersweet as he was really nice to talk with but knowing he was spending his days signing autos in a memoribilia store in a casinowas kind of sad.

FWIW, PSA graded the auto I got a 10.

    Love you man

  • RIP. Love the guy, maximum effort, all the time, and he was an encyclopedia of knowledge, here he talks about how hitting in the majors is easier than hitting in college and minor leagues.

Legendary player on the field. Definitely not a fan of the guy when he was off the field.
