Morning,

Recently there was a flurry of News relating to PSA getting into Comic Book Grading a couple months back. Their were several Youtube Vids, one introducing the new head of that division. A few about the first batch of Comics Graded as AU. And a lot of Critiques about the Holders being Too Bulky, And then Crickets.

As its Sept and this is supposed to kickoff in 2025, has anybody heard an New news?

Thanks

YeeHaw!

Neil

    This might explain the crickets.

"Beckett has filed a law suit against PSA's head comic booker grader Mark Wilson over violating a NDA."

"Beckett (aka CBCS) filing a restraining order and injunction against current Comic Book PSA Head Grader Mark Wilson and employee West Stephan. Apparently they are being accused of breaking the NDA and bring grading secrets to PSA including SUBGRADES which apparently CBCS has been working on this year."

    Morning,

Didn't some Bill or Regulation get done recently that made most NDA's Illegal? I thought I remembered something to that affect but maybe it was just a Rumor or only applies moving forward?

It’s complicated here. But what you might be referring to are non competes. NDAs are still enforceable. It will depend on whether he brought intellectual property in the form of ideas processes or techniques from Beckett to PSA and whether they can prove it. Sub grades wouldn’t meet the criteria of novelty. It’s a concept which the public is aware of and may seek to recreate. I would expect PSA has lawyers who reviewed this and determined there was low risk but I bet they’re shocked Beckett filed suit. It’s a bold move by Beckett so they’re either just trying to delay them, are getting bad advice, or there is something of merit in their claim.

  • Hi All!

This is my first post here.

I have the same question as the OP (Neil). What is happening with PSA and its entrance into the world of comic book grading? Any news?

By the way, if you're interested in Steve Borock's response to the lawsuit, it can be found on the CBCS forum using the link below:

I'm excited about PSA. To say the very least, I think it would be extremely healthy for the hobby to have some real competition to CGC. :)

Hope to see a Comic Book sub forum here soon.

Many collectors are very happy to welcome PSA after CGC has damaged 10s of thousands formally high grade books then gaslighted their those affected customers then banned those same parties they fiscally damaged from their forums.

Here's hoping PSA provides CGC with the reckoning they so richly deserve!

Me too! I think that would be a great idea.
