I just received this Newps that I won at an auction with bad photos. It's in an older blue label PCGS holder and I think the grade is not accurate. I'm wondering what the forum thinks it should be (not what it is).
While not a hard date to find, it really gets scarce and valuable in higher grades:

You asked what grade respondents thought the coin should be, but limited the choices.
So, while I chose MS64, I might have gone with a lower grade, if given the opportunity. I don’t like the reverse.

Weak strike, especially on bird torso. I’m leaning toward a 63, but there wasn’t that option.

Very soft strike and hazy. Cheek is clean, but there looks to be a scratch or abrasion in the central devices of the obverse.

I guess I did that because I thought it was fairly range-bound, I'm curious what you are seeing? On the reverse I'm only really drawn to the hit near the P in PLURIBUS and DO in DOLLAR, a few small hits on the bird.
Don’t like the smog color haze on the coin.

From the photos it looks MS-65 or 65+ but personally I don't like how dark the photos are as those dark spots could be hiding numerous hairlines or marks that could keep it from being above a 64.
The eagle looks like it has a lot of marks between the top half of the tail, upwards to the area below its neck.
There are also light whitish discolored areas on each side of the eagle and a larger, more conspicuous one beneath its claws. What caused them?

I stand by my 64 from the other thread, still without examining the coin.

Thanks. I think it may be more of an indictment on my photography. I played with the lighting and added new photos. I'm not sure about the white areas, I see what you're talking about but it looks pretty normal to me.
I look at a decent number of Peace dollars, and I like it as a 65, maybe a 65+ if it were a common date.
Nothing is as expensive as free money.
Figured the OP’s coin deserved a crazy guess of 65+ otherwise what’s the sense in having a poll about it!
FWIW I think it’s an AU58 like this one, which I think is under-graded…

i am confused by the weakly struck areas and the color on them
The luster looks nice to me but the hits certainly hold it back.
PVC?
Looks 63 on my desktop. Smaller hand held image looks 64.
Too many hairlines to be GEM especially on the Reverse.

I think what we're seeing is a low lighting angle on the images which over-accentuates some marks.

I voted 65. While these are notorious for bag marks, especially the cheeks, I believe that to be a conservative grade since it's based on an image, It also appears (again from an image) to be a slightly weak strike. However, if your purchase was close to the current market I say it's a good addition.
I’m thinking a 64+, I’m a little tighter on the grading. It’s prolly in a 65 holder.
Looks 63ish to me, not one of the choices in the poll. RGDS!
I think it is limited by the strength of the strike. While the haze could be problematic, it could also be a product of the photography. I don't think it could get to 65. I'm also not sure it could get to 63, as some are suggesting, because it does have a pretty clean cheek.
---- REVEAL
The coin is currently 64 but my experienced eye in hand tells me that it may be 65-worthy, and about 1/3 of the votes suggest it may be also. The coin immediately struck me as being in exceptionally good condition with no distracting marks. My photography is not the greatest and the intent is to show as many details and flaws as possible. I'm tempted to send it for regrade but I thought it might be a better play to send it to CAC and see if it will gold sticker. I think a gold CAC 64 is likely to be worth more than a green CAC 65. That is assuming it CACs at all but I don't see any reason for it not to.
The commentary made this too easy.

It could pop, but I would not get it true viewed pop or not. Lately the trueviews are exasperating every little imperfection.
