Probationary Periods for New Members

I had a wonderful idea that I thought may be of benefit to the forum. Place all new members are on a 30-day probationary period. They would become a "full member" once 30 days has passed if there are no issues. During this 30-day probationary period they could be disqualified for a specific number of flagged posts or some other rule infraction. This would help weed out the bad apples who appear to be prone to objectional forum decorum.

the rules don't stop at 30 days, and afterwards we'd all be banned

I raised that point in the other thread. That most of the egregiously vitriolic posts that I read in the now famous "W" thread were by long standing members with thousands of posts, may they rest in peace.

i missed the W thread because i thought it was just a very long lasting cheat thread

Oh no! You are missing a gem if you haven't taken that thread in and adopted it as Gospel! It's revolutionary and in reading it, you will attain enlightenment! <3

Isn’t this thread itself “objectionable forum decorum”? Usually off-topic threads would be considered such.

They’ll just let loose on day 31……lol.

Absolutely not. One of the members suggested starting a new thread addressing this issue and I thought it was a good idea with valid points and food for thought. We do want to keep the non-coin collecting riff-raff out, don't we? This is one way to do it.

Most sociopaths, narcissists, and general crazies can't hold it all in for 31 days. I know for a fact that I sure couldn't contain myself for 31 seconds let alone 31 days!

  • I have a question. Does coin collecting tend to make formerly well-adjusted, level-headed individuals miserable, or do miserable people tend to gravitate to coin collecting?

I like your idea. It might cut down on ‘some’ of the nonsense. I really don’t see a downside.

The downside is if it is him or Mr. 1931-S. Way too biased. We need to vote on this, and I don't want it to happen unless we all vote. It just would be wrong otherwise.

What about a "NEW MEMBER" thread for 30 days? Afterward, they can post in any thread?
