Ebay coin buying tip of the day...

Have found that if I put a buy-it -now coin in the shopping cart, often a discounted offer pops up in a day or two.

Of course if the coin is a rip, just buy it, but if you are on the fence, it is worth parking it there for a few days.

Had a different collectible in the cart yesterday and a 50% off offer arrived.

I still passed on it. B)

  • I usually only buy pretty cheap coins on eBay, so I don’t save a lot with this method. But I’ve done this before, too.

I always feel kind of bad though when I decline their offer, especially when it is a somewhat decent one.
I try and leave a little note thanking them regardless.

Heck, I've gotten offers from just viewing the eBay auction and not even adding it to my cart or watch list. I know because I never do either of those things, and somehow the seller knows I've looked at their coin.

The seller doesn't know anything specific. EBay, of course, knows every item you look at.

EBay tells the seller that people have shown interest and asks if we would like to make them an offer. The seller had no idea who you are our how you accessed the page. In many cases, i end up sending offers to half a dozen anonymous shoppers.

I wondered if it may be simply the seller sending blanket offers to multiple people without actually knowing who they are.

We don't know who you are. People think we do send it just to them. Lol. A lot of times someone will contact me days or weeks later to discuss my offer and I have no idea what they are talking about.

10% off pays the tax depending where it’s coming from

This one was odd; I search items on the Bay daily and regularly get reduced "offers" on items I viewed. This one was too good to me to pass and I accepted and paid for it.

Seller cancelled, with a note the buyer requested it be cancelled, which didn't happen, and later sent me a note asking how I purchased it...
