Red streaks/spots: Normal 1955s LWP

I'm very new to coin collecting and appreciate all advice. I'm trying to find out if these red darker streaks and spots are normal. I would like to grade the coin but I'm unsure if the spots would be a problem. Under optical zoom and has some very unique features but I'm concerned about these spots.

What causes this?

It's a type of toning. The coin might have been sitting in contact with something at some point in it's life. It's not a big deal. Some people might even consider it a nice bit of extra character.

That toning won't affect the numerical grade. It might possibly move the designation from RD to RB. My guess is not even that, but it's hard to be sure from a picture.

    Nice coin!

It is just toning that has taken place over the 69 year life of the coin. In any case, the coin is not worth the cost of grading ... not even close.

I have something similar going on on my 1955-S. It must have been something about the planchets that year.

Slight variations in the alloy mix can cause this or exposure to outside elements, as already stated.

That coin would not be worth grading due to the bagmarks which will limit the grade.
