I watched an early lot not long after the 8:00 AM EST start.

Now, at noon, they have sold 135 lots - in 4 hours!

4:00 PM and it’s down to the last dozen of 286 lots. What a sale of fabulous Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian coins, and there are many more Stack’s Bowers auctions of Lars Emil Bruun coins to come over the next few years.

There were 3 lots I would have bought for 3 to 5 times the ‘estimates’, but although I got my paddle up on each, I was swamped by a massive wave of bids.

I was in Copenhagen for the sale this weekend. Quite an experience - bought 2 lots at a significant premium!

@Bob13 happy to - I decided to attend the sale primarily to witness the impact of this massive collection coming to market. I was told about this during the NY International by @MrEureka who gave me his perspective and later from my friends at Stacks who will be tasked with running the auctions.

This first sale encompassed 287 lots in total - all of which I was able to view during lot viewing trying to prioritize my candidates on a (relatively) finite budget. Amazing stuff which makes one want to buy everything. The pre-bidding levels were quite low yet it was clear from the get-go that the price levels will be very competitive.

The atmosphere at the Odd Fellow Palace and during the auction was spirited - nice folks and very nice hosts at Stacks who hosted a collectors dinner the night prior. Also spent time touring Copenhagen which is a relatively small and cozy town.

Ended up buying two lots while trying to get more. Enjoyed the auction event in full. Will definitely keep an eye on following sales from the collection.
