ive been searching for evidence of a long gone homestead that is on an 1860 map

after five trips to this area, and no luck, map overlay shows its right here, but im not finding anything ... then the sound of a moderately deep coin, i dig into the dry powdery soil, about 6" and out comes a brown disc roughly 26mm in diameter, i found a large cent !! heart beating i splash on some soapy water, rub the thick dirt away for a better look and no ITS a sacagawea DOLLAR .. no picture because i threw it as far as i could

just enough to piss one off. at least you jot something deep, fwiw
i was stoked at first, i havent found a large cent since early 2023 stoked more so because ive spent several hours trying to pinpoint the spot of the old house. it was a hell of a let down lol
Put that thing in all metal mode and look for iron. There will be a large concentration of iron if there was a homestead there.
@ebaybuyer2 Think about using a ground probe to search for changes in soil consistency. Slight depressions can indicate a privy, dump or a void. Steel or brass works best. See if there's a turn of the century fire insurance map of wood structures. Good luck. Peace Roy

You may be in the right spot but someone could have brought in some fill dirt putting it on top of your homestead.
