Why would this 1830 Capped Bust Half Dime get an AU Details grade?

With that photo who the heck knows. If I do an interpretation it is in bad shape as if you didn't already know ;)

The photos are what's AG or FR, not the coin.

You are correct, I couldn't believe anyone would attempt to sell a coin with such terrible pics. I didn't look at the NGC reverse pick when I saw the enlarged reverse photo. Amazing. Thanks for straightening me out.

The pictures don't allow for a very good look at the coin but from what I can see, I can get to approximately XF details fairly easily.

I don’t understand your AG or FR assessment.
Here’s a PCGS AG details example for comparison:

You can use the NGC Cert verification to see much better photos.
The seller should be using those, given their lack of photo taking skills.

Just enter Cert no and grade in NGC lookup.

@MFeld Unfortunately, I looked at the sellers reverse photo and couldn't see much of any grade. I wasn't even interested in the coin, just saw the au details grade and took a look and became obsessed with the pic. Had I been interested in the coin I would have looked at the holder reverse, but did not. Sorry.

I did after the post, but actually the seller provided those pics, but unfortunately I merely looked at the seller's reverse pic. My bad.
