Question regarding 1982 Proof sets

I am going through some sets my dad had. There are 4 proof sets from 1982 that have coins with blue toning around the edges. I checked the 79, 80, 81, 83..... and nothing. Is this a common occurrence for this one year?
Not the greatest photos but I think they show the toning I mentioned.

If I remember correctly, one or two years in the late 70s and early 80s had some plastic issues that caused the coins to tone. There was some chemical in the plastic that accelerated it. Not sure if that's true, but I do remember reading it somewhere.

Thanks @FlyingAl
4 out of 4 have the blue rings. Looks pretty cool on the DCAM coins.

Does every coin in all four sets have the same blue toning? Including the cent and SBA? If so, they would probably look amazing with each whole year in one of those NGC multi-coin holders. Heck, even just those with the other non-toners would probably still be very cool.
Anyone familiar with if these years are known toners amongst the TPGs? Do they slab them without issues?
Having fun while switching things up and focusing on a next level PCGS slabbed 1950+ type set, while still looking for great examples for the 7070.

I will take a closer look tonight and post again.
The photos I posted were from 3 different sets. From what I recall the 1 cent pieces didn't appear to have toning. The Kennedy's were very limited but the blue was beginning to show. The other 3 denominations had some degree of blue around the rims in all the sets. For some the blue crept further into the center.

I've noticed the same possible toning on a brown box Ike. I will try to post a photo of it when I get home.

The older cases are not air tight. Nor are the newer style, although a bit better. I apply a thin bead of clear silicone to the edge and smooth it with a finger. Appears to have solved the issue having done so since the early '90's. But I'd pay slight premium for some of those toners.
